Housed in a beautiful two-storey conservation shophouse along Tanjong Pagar Road, The Wall is a newly-opened Japanese whisky and sumiyaki concept that is set to change your perception of how whiskies should be enjoyed – most people think that whiskies should only be enjoyed with cigars at the gentlemen’s club, but at The Wall, guests can expect the exact opposite. Featuring brick walls and bar stools, the brightly-lit space allows guests to savour good whiskies without feeling overwhelmed by formal leather seats – there are some 20 top quality whiskies by the glass offered on the finely curated list, at very friendly prices starting from S$14 per glass, with whisky flights starting at S$37.
And for those who are not regular whisky drinkers, they can start off with the food – there is a delectable menu of charcoal-grilled meat skewers, and they can slowly ease into the drinks. There is a whisky tasting chart available, indicating the characteristics of whiskies, from delicate to smoky, from light to rich, to help guide drinkers in selecting the type of flavour profiles that will suit their palates in a non-intimidating way. Connoisseurs, on the other hand, should definitely opt for either the whisky and sumiyaki pairing sets (from S$49) or the Chef’s omakase with whisky (S$168).
