Sashimi lovers can now tuck into five new additions crafted by Chef Shuji Sawada at Maguro-Donya, that features the freshest catch of maguro and sashimi imported directly from Japan’s Misaki Port. The first is a medley of fresh sashimi called the Five-Cut Sashimi (S$52), which features the Hon Akami, Chutoro, Otoro, Kamatoro and Toumi.
Health-conscious diners will enjoy the lean Hon Akami, while those who prefer a more delicate bite would savour the mid-fat Chutoro. With its marbling texture that’s akin to Wagyu beef, the Otoro is the fattest cut of all, while the Kamatoro has a good mix of fat and meat, coming from the fish cheek and collar. The Toumi is a delicate high-fat bluefin tuna that is served semi-frozen. A special O-toro Don Set (S$40) of thin marbled otoro slices comes with Hokkaido sushi rice, while the Megumi Special Set (S$49), which serves two diners, comprises of a medium rare Chutoro Steak, Big Eye Maguro and a Grilled Blue Fin Maguro Collar, served with a small salad, steamed egg and a dessert of the day.
