Chic-a-boo: Frying High

Chic-a-boo lives up to its reputation as a casual eatery that serves up affordable fried chicken and delectable sides. Sumptuous offerings here include set meals of chicken — which come in two flavours, Favourite or Hot & Spicy — and fish, in addition to a la carte chicken and a variety of burgers as well as sides.

The fried chicken here is faultless, seasoned perfectly with a very appealing blend of herbs and spices. The flavours are complex, the meat is tender and juicy, and the skin is perfectly crisp and golden brown. Burgers here are great, featuring tender, moist, and toothsome chicken fillets encased in warm, soft, fluffy buns. Our vote goes to the Mayo Chicken Burger and BBQ Chicken Burger, both of which deliver rich bold flavours.

The sides usually fare quite well. Mashed potato comes with an accompanying brown sauce that is lovely and suitably seasoned. Cream of Mushroom here comes with bits of carrot, chicken, and corn, the texture is smooth and thick, and delights with its great taste. Other crowd-pleasers at Chic-a-boo include coleslaw, garlic bread and onion rings. The coleslaw is scrumptious and offers a nice bite, while the garlic bread, which is crisp on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. Not forgetting the fragrant and crispy onion rings.

At Chic-a-boo you are guaranteed a very satisfying meal with offerings that are definitely enjoyable.
